Reichstag Fire Decree
The Reichstag Fire Decree took away many civil liberties of the German people. Citizens could be imprisoned if considered to be opponents of the Nazis and publications such as the newspaper, The Other Germany, were banned if not considered pro-Nazi. The Decree is thought to be a key step toward establishment of the one party Nazi state.

For decided republican politics/ serving no party. Berlin, Saturday, 11 March 1933. The Chief of Police Criminal Police Berlin, 3 March 1933. FORBIDDEN
On the basis of section 1 of the Ordinance of the Reich President to the protection of people and country on February 28 , 1933, I forbid in the interest of public security and order the suspension of the weekly newspaper, The Other Germany for a period of 3 months.
Offenses are punishable under section 4 of the Ordinance.
