U.S. Navy Seabees
The ideal candidate for the Seabees was a skilled laborer; one who had experience and skill in a construction trade. Since physical standards were not emphasized in the early part of WWII, the average age of the early recruits was thirty-seven.
These men were needed to build advance bases in the Pacific and Atlantic Theaters of War. Their motto was "We Build, We Fight."
"Build for your Navy! / Seabees / Enlist! Carpenters, machinists, electricians etc. For information, apply to your nearest recruiting station. U.S. Navy - Bureau of Yards and Docks." WWII recruitment poster for the Navy Seabees.
