British & Dominion Navies

At the time of WWII, the British Home Fleet dwarfed the Kriegsmarine (German Navy). Dominion navies included: Royal Australian Navy, Royal Canadian Navy, the Royal New Zealand Navy and the South African Navy. The Royal Navy and navies of the Commonwealth had a very close relationship and officers transferred between them and Dominion ships were often used in British fleets and flotillas.

During WWII, aircraft carriers replaced battleships as the head of naval warfare.
