LCT and LST

The photo shows an LCT (Landing Craft, Tank) being loaded onto an LST (Landing Ship, Tank) with two floating cranes. Landing Craft, Tanks were loaded onto Landing Ship tanks for the voyage across the Atlantic. Once they arrived in England the Landing Craft, Tanks were slid off the deck into the ocean with a huge splash. U.S. National Archives photo.
