Cromwell tank
The Cromwell was the first British tank to combine a dual-purpose gun, with high speed and reasonable armor. Cromwells were used to fully equip only the British 7th Armored Division, and because of their speed were also used as the main tank in the reconnaissance regiments of British armored divisions. Pictured are infantry aboard a Cromwell tank landing on the Gold Beach after leaving an LST (Landing Ship Tank). Production of the tank began in 1942 and approximately 4,000 were built.
